In this section relevant Guidance documents for the analysis of Processing Contaminants can be found.
Analysis of MOSH and MOAH in food by GC×GC. Guidance on analysis, interpretation and data reporting
The main objective of the guidance is to promote the harmonisation of GC×GC analysis, chromatogram interpretation and reporting of results for qualitative characterisation of MOSH and MOAH.
The document aims to provide guidelines for tentative identification of analytical interferences that affect quantification of MOSH and MOAH by LC-GC-FID, to provide insights for the identification of the source of contamination, and to support the characterisation of MOAH compounds based on the number of aromatic rings and their degree of alkylation.

In 2016, the “Guidance Document on the Estimation of LOD and LOQ for Measurements in the Field of Contaminants in Feed and Food” was created by the EURLs working with contaminants; the EURL for Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons, EURL for Heavy Metals, EURL for Mycotoxins and EURL for Dioxins and PCBs.
December 2016
The new cluster of EURLs for Contaminants – EURL for Metals and Nitrogenous compounds, EURL for Mycotoxins and Plant toxins, EURL for halogenated POPs, and EURL for Processing Contaminants in feed and food – developed a new Guidance document published in 2022. The new “Guidance Document on the Estimation of LOQ for Measurements in the Field of Contaminants in Feed and Food” recommends one universal approach barring any different requirements by the legislation.
